Dennis, I know so very little about MS Publisher, however, I'll wager that
I could do anything it does in MS Word (well, maybe not me personally, I'm
a word processing klutz). I have seen fairly recent ASU business grads
produce documents that amazed me, they were quite compentent with MS Word,
utilizing features that a common hack like myself wouldn't know what to do
with, even if I could find the feature in the menu tree.
My question, is MS Publisher mostly a 'hand-holder'? This wouldn't
suprise me. My current opinion on MS Word, you need a college degree to
compentently operate it. (not so different from AutoCAD ... anybody can
whip out a simple drawing, but only well trained people can draw space
shuttles).

Actually, I'd bet that OO will do a lot of what M$ Publisher will do, it just
won't hold your hand while you do it. You will need to learn some basics
about laying out a document.
I may have to eat my words though, in the next month I'll be moving some
price flyers and ads from WordPro and PageMaker to OO. If there are no font
issues and I can create a good PDF to go to print, I'll be a happy camper.
