MS Publisher replacements?

APLUG could use a collection of pages & links to software and
recommendations on the web site.

Another app, Microsoft Publisher, available on the Microsoft Office
Professional CD and is also available stand-alone. (A desktop publishing
app).

We were this -> <- close to rolling out OpenOffice.org for a client, they
said no when they realized an MS Publisher equivelant was not part of
OpenOffice.org. Egg on our faces, we didn't have an answer at that
moment.

Any good desktop publishing packages out there?
