thx for the response,

                            i tried the hostname from cli, but it will not 
change the machines hostname. it only makes the change AFAIK, to the hostname 
listed when entering #hostname. i have yet to rgrep etc, i am caught in a 
battle with netsaint's cgi permissions. but thats another issue, and if your 
interested in that issue i can give you the low down on it.
