partition magic

I am using partition magic and i want to resize my ext2 partition at the end of my 18 gig HD because i want to try out another OS(gentoo) but partition magic thinks my ext2 partition is completely full and therefor wont resize it. Does anyone have any idea why it might think that or how to fix it or if im completely screwed?
