ncurses vs. ncurses4

Does anyone know the difference between the ncurses and ncurses4 packages?
Using rpm -qi shows identical descriptions for each package but different
versions, sizes, and sources. They both seem to happily coexist on a
machine and I don't know why there are two versions. Does ncurses have any
capabilities over ncurses4?
