function key values in xterm

Related topic - I have a 1991 keyboard from a Packard Bell (uck) which has
a little key labeled "MACRO" which apparently does nothing at all, even
'xev' doesn't show a keystroke. Does anyone know where I might discover
what if anything this does? (A google search on "macro key" is singularly
useless...)
