One thing which can make your system work strangely and intermittently is
failing to keep properly grounded and static-free while attending the guts
of the computer... this is especially a problem in "Dry Heat" Arizona.
I've ruined my share of parts this way, and try to be much more cautious
these days.
That being said, I'd much rather make my own mistakes when choosing
components than inherit someone else's odd decisions.
