Do you have more than Python2.1 installed? My gut reaction is its likely
you have 1.5.2 & 2.1 installed. An easy way to try this is do:
python2.1 setup.py install
If this works (doesnt complain about distutils) I would say that you have
1.5.2 still installed and python is linked to python1.5.2 and not
python2.1.
Another way to tell is to type python and check what version it starts.
