I had a problem trying to get Redhat on an old laptop with a 340meg hard
drive. I then installed Debian and it took up about 45 megs when it was done
(granted with almost literally nothing installed). I just made sure to
install ONLY what I need. ie. gcc and g++ not the entire 800GB "Development"
package. Try to do a barebones install and only put on what you need
specifically.
