Thought id share this one with you,
Ive been monitoring the Bristol BBLug as alot of stuff goes on there, =20
The topic on this one is, is linux pronounced lynn-ux or line-ux a =
newbie asked which prompted this one which i thought was cracking :-

p.s. I've always "understood" (apart from the 40,001 exceptions to all =
rules
of english-as-she-is spoke) that a single consonant meant the previous =
vowel
is looonngg, and a double consonant meant the previous vowel is short -
except in the frozen wastes north of Watford, where all vowels are short =
on
account of the frostbite that ensues if you keep your mouth open too =
long!
