/sbin/init

Hi. I'm running (or I was at least until, well it's a long story) Mandrake
8.0 but it no longer seems to load /sbin/init after the kernel (see archive
regarding kernel hanging after "Freeing unused kernel memory"). When I
copied the file from another working Mandrake 8.0 box, nothing changed.
When I try to execute the init from a "rescue" shell, I get a seg fault.
Somebody please help.
