Is the stuff saved in an archive somewhere in case you want to search
for questions/answers/flames/whines/whatever?

Hmm. Seems we've got an announce list already... (I checked ;-)

Same here. One thing I like about the PLUG is that it is pretty informal.
However, at work I'm on a bunch of 'bb's (mailing lists by a stupid name),
and even there sometimes the 'discussion' can be pretty ... lame? .. so
being More Official [tm] does not guarantee much...
<Old Fart Mode>
I remember the old days of the 'net. Back when UUCP was the primary
means of transport of news (and email, for that matter!). Even in
the old days, flamewars about the appropriateness of a post ended
up burning thousands of times more bandwidth than the initial
post.

So, as a reminder to all (myself included) - try to reply to sender
when appropriate, and don't forget that its HARD to do so here
on the plug list!
Now, as to what to do when something is posted that you are *CERTAIN*
will result in multiple posts to the list as replies that were intended
to be private - well, as someone once said - I'm open for suggestions...

Long live procmail! (or in my case, the filters of netscape :-)

Oops, sorry, I hope my comment was not read as a complaint. I was trying
to head off the very thing that happened... Oh, well, next time maybe
I'll just keep my hands in my pocket :-)

And here I go helping make it last longer! Yikes!

I tend to go with Sam here - I think its an unfortunate side effect, and
does not need IRC or anything else.
