I don't think WINE is actually developed enough to run a large program like
Word 2000. It can do solitaire, and maybe a bit more. It is not yet ready for
general use. You might want to try a Linux word processor, such as StarOffice
or AbiWord. If you really need Windows 2000, look into VMWare or win4lin.

WINE is hindered by trying to implement from the MS documentation, which is
wrong and incomplete. MS programs are the worst, as they use secret
capabilities of the OS that are not documented so that other application
developers will not know about them. Sometimes they find them and use them,
but then they don't know which will still be there in the next release - it
makes it hard to compete, and even more difficult to emulate.
