Not sure if this will help

ive seen this on lans ive not been able to explain it but in the network
options in dns

put something in the search domain field back in linuxit we had Linuxit.org
and Linuxit.com i used the linuxit.org for the lan / intranet .. any boxes
that did not have linuxit.org in the search domain field either did not
connect to the net or was very very slow.
