Well, most default installs of Linux has telnet setup.
I'd be interested in seeing a netstat on your machine while it's running to see if the connection really is over ssh or just a default connection that was setup in Exceed. :) Cause that's what I used to run my programs was SSH, but the connection with Exceed was still using telnet.
