:-/ did all the above, and yes I am using the mouse adapter, and the
little light goes on the mouse when I do ANYTHING, and startes blinking
after it has set idle for some time. Just like i'd expect...

I then tried plugging it into the USB directly. Kcontrol sees it on the
port and reports it as a logotech driver, but is totally non
responsive. The distance to the control reader is about 4" and I've
moved it farther away just in case. The only potential problem is all
the aboce sits under the edge of two monitors. RF interferiance?...

Does anyone know of a USB port event viewer (like the mouse event
viewers) that I can play with to see if anything at all is comming
through?

BTW, my previous mouse is also a logitech wheel mouse (and the new one
only has an additional button on the side -- and if that not working was
the only problem I wouldnt care)...
