After reviewing the information available (read: re-reading the archived
messages regarding this issue) I have come to the conclusion that we need
more information to be able to help you. The lilo.conf file that someone
would give you would not help your current situation, since those are
generated specificially for each machine that you install on. So, my first
request is that you give information as to how your partitioning scheme is
setup, how much memory and what type is installed, and what the basic specs
of the server are.

=46rom your descriptions, it sounds to me like you need to specify to the
linux kernel how much memory you have installed in the server or which areas
of memory the kernel can't touch, though I can't be 100% sure since I don't
have enough information about the box.

If you can boot a rescue disk or off of the CD to the point where you can
get a shell prompt, you can try editing the lilo.conf file to add this
parameter (eg "append mem=3DXXX") and rerun lilo to reinstall it. You'll ne=
ed
to know the format of the lilo.conf file and which kernel parameters to
provide to do this successfully, though. Information can be found on various
HOWTOs on the web.

Other things that can be of tremendous help for troubleshooting are:
What version of the Linux kernel are you running?
Can you supply a complete dump of _exactly_ what the Linux kernel sta=
tes
just before it locks up? Specificially, any memory range informati=
on
that it prints out at the beginning would be especially helpful.
