UPCOMMING MEETING
When: Wednesday, September 19
Where: Computing Commons Auditorium (south side of the building)
Chris ("Shadow") from our Mailing List will give a presentation on the project
he has been working on. Here are some details:
The Nodework Project's design goal is to provide a virtual machine
infrastructure to replace individual desktop systems. The first step is
to provide a diskless client based on hardware similar to the ThinkNic
(
www.thinknic.org) or MediaGX (
www.supertek.com.tw) platforms. The
diskless client is similar in concept to the Linux Terminal Server
Project (
www.ltsp.org), but relies more on the local hardware for
processing. The presentation will cover the hardware and software
requirements, the process of creating a diskless client and the current
state of this project.
Please, check the
http://asulug.asu.edu for other upcomming events,
Monika
