Detecting Multiple Processors

How do you confirm that a Linux system is both seeing and using two or more
processors? I have a dual processor system that runs great on Linux but I
don't know for sure that both processors are actually being used. Is there
a command that will display the number of processors and if they are being
used? Would the /proc directory have this information?
