rm -i *

i for interactive...let it figure out what to call the file, you just
say 'y' at the appropriate point.

or

'rm -i *:q' to give it a hint at the file(s) to pick

or

'rm -i ?:??::q' to avoid typing the annoying characters

or go into dired mode in emacs.
