That used to happen to me a lot with Geocities' POP3 mail.
I would connect to the server (telnet to port 110), use the
"user <username>" and "pass <password>" commands to log
in. "List" shows all message numbers and sizes. "retr #" gets a
certain message (just count which message Netscape or KMail
gets stuck on), and "dele #" removes it. "Quit" quits, of course.
With any luck, your current server supports that.
