We can get you more recent copies of debian, *or* especially if you want to
use reiserfs or xfs try
http://debianboot.digitaltux.com/. You need the
rescue, root and 4 driver disks. The resc disk is the bootable one.
base2_2.tgz comes in across the net just fine once the drivers are installed
and networking has been configured.
Warning, reiserfs seems to have 64 MB of overhead, so my /boot partition is
80MB or something :). OTOH, keep /boot as ext2 and mount it read-only. You
can remount it r/w whenever you add a new kernel. Otherwise read-only works
fine.
