After some advise from Bill Gribble, who I connected with on the gnucash-user
email list, I have successfully installed GnuCash 1.6.0 on my KDE desktop.
This is how I did it:
- Download and install ALL of Gnome-1.4 from
www.ximian.com. All of it
(145MB!). During the install make sure you select the option to leave your
current desktop in place, unless you want to switch to Gnome.
- Download the files Guppi-0.35.5-1.i386.rpm, g-wrap-1.1.9-1.i386.rpm and
gnucash-1.6.0-1.i386.rpm from
http://www.gnucash.org/pub/gnucash/redhat-7-guile-1-4/
- As root at a terminal, use rpm to install these packages, both guppi and
g-wrap before gnucash, using the --force option like this:
rpm -i -v --force <rpm file name>
If the --force option does not work, try again without it.
That was it! After doing these operations, guncash runs on my KDE desktop!
