Mandrak 7.2 sendmail problems

I upgraded my system to mandrake 7.2, and anytime I try to send
mail from a non-root user, I get the following:

[dsaxena@arrakis ~]$ mail deepak@csociety.purdue.edu
Subject: test
i
Cc:
[dsaxena@arrakis ~]$ Can't create transcript file ./xff054BFv05148:
Permission denied
queueup: cannot create queue temp file ./tff054BFv05148, uid=1: Permission
denied

[dsaxena@arrakis ~]$

I've checked perms on /var/spool/mailq (rwxr-x-rx) and sendmail(r-sr-sr-x)
i think that they're ok. Anyone run into this one?
