CD Rom device is missing from /dev

Subject: CD Rom device is missing from /dev
First you need to find out which device your cdrom is. Lets say it is
the master on your second IDE port. (/dev/hdc)

You would need to create a symbolic link to it (as root):

# cd /dev
# ln -s /dev/hdc cdrom
# ls -l cdrom
