It was the same way for my install. Install dude forgot I was running
Linux. No prob.
When he first set it up, I wasn't getting a network connection, so he
setup his laptop to test it. I got a coke as he was booting. He got m$
started, changed the ip address, rebooted, had something blow up,
rebooted, finally got to working on the connection. Discovered a mistake
in the setup, fixed it and I stuck my laptop on the connection. He gave me
the network info and I had my laptop working in a few seconds :).
Initially, they had some probs, e.g. going down every time it rained
despite not being affected by rain, but overall it was pretty good.
For the most part they're still OK, but there are some serious problems
that crop up way too often. 40% packet loss is not a network
connection. I've seen greater than 40% packet loss on several
occasions. Having to power cycle the modem to get it to reconnect sucks,
especially when they keep going down. Part of that is because I forgot to
restart my ping after the power outtage over the weekend. Not that I
should have to keep a ping running to keep the network connection on an
always on service....
The one way tech support has been massively hamstrung by management
because their admin tools/access have been removed. I can't get stuff done
outside 9 to 5. That really sucks because nights and weekends are when I
have time to use the service and make calls requesting changes...
