\_ Hello PLUGgers
\_
\_ I tried all day yesterday (Sunday) to ftp the RH7 iso's from RedHat. I
\_ think I tried about four times from a combination of W98 and RH6.2
\_ boxes, using several different ftp programs. In all cases I used
\_
ftp.redhat.com and cox@home. In all cases the outcome was the same: it
\_ would smoke along at about 120kbps until I had transfered about
\_ 400Mb-450Mb. Then it would gradually slow down until I had about
\_ 500Mb-550Mb whereupon it would become unusably slow, essentially zero. I
\_ never was successful. Any ideas?
ncftp. It'll keep going, resume transfers, save 'bookmarks', and
slice your bread.
Or see if you can find $5 in change in your couch and offer to trade
someone at the meeting for burned media.
Alternatively, try to find a different site. I usually attach to
ftp.freesoftware.com (formerly 'cdrom.com') and slurp large files.
And if yoy're really sneaky, ask quietly on PLUG for a local mirror.
:-)
