That is because redhat 7 uses xinetd. go to /etc/xinetd.d/ and look at all
of the services. The more I play with xinetd the more I like it.

I've loaded it too and have noticed that they have started doing something
Debian style. They are putting some .conf files in directorys under
/etc. For example smb.conf is now in /etc/samba. I haven't messed with
inetd.conf yet but check the directory structure..
