First, check out the device section, and specify some options to
disable all acceleration...

VideoRam 1024 #Try any of these to lower the amount of videoram X
uses also...
Option "noaccel" #might help?

If that fails...
Eliminate the Modeline for interlaced 1024x768 (pound it out) and see
what happens. Sometimes this helps.
Next..
Try the following modelines as substitutes for your 1024x768 mode. The
purpose of this test is to see if your hitting a "memory barrier" at
1024x768 that causes the card to act differently, then crash.
# 1024x768 @ 60 Hz, 48.4 kHz hsync
Modeline "1024x768" 65 1020 1032 1176 1344 768 771 777
806 -hsync -vsync
and/or
# 1024x768 @ 60 Hz, 48.4 kHz hsync
Modeline "1024x768" 65 1024 1032 1176 1344 764 771 777
806 -hsync -vsync
if neither work, try:
# 1024x768 @ 60 Hz, 48.4 kHz hsync
Modeline "1024x768" 65 1020 1032 1176 1344 764 771 777
806 -hsync -vsync
you might also try playing with the options that involve the video
memory settings (frame buffer, etc)
