Pull the data from the DAC on the soundcard (or trap it in the DMA
buffers). After the raw PCM data is in hand, the watermark (and
anything else about the sound) can easily be manipulated with standard
sound software.
The recording industry is so stupid... they are just trying to make it
inconvienent for people who are not inteligent enough to know how to
manipulate the devices they own.
