to code or not to code?

Hmmm... that's a loaded question if I've ever heard one.

Well, Perl was my starting point and if I had to do it all over again
(knowing what I know now), I think I would still choose Perl. Java would be
a close second.

Recommended Perl books (in this order):
    Learning Perl   - O'Reilly
    Perl CookBook - O'Reilly
    Tom's object-oriented tutorial for perl  (perltoot, found at
http://www.perl.com )
    Object Oriented Perl - Manning
    Advanced Perl  - O'Reilly
