Make sure the files are removed and compile the source.. ;)

I have completely lost faith in RPM, I haven't used dselect in a while, but
in my opinion, you can't get a cleaner install than compiling and installing
it yourself.

Subject: duplicate RPMs installed

I have noticed two errors when installing two new packages. An error will
occur like
'error getting record /bin/sh from file://var/lib/rpm/requiredby.rpm'
<file://var/lib/rpm/requiredby.rpm'> . When I try to cancel it, it seems to
cancel, but then I get a duplicate entry, in this case
Glide_V3-2.60.15-3mdk.i586.rpm and Glide_V3-2.60.15-4mdk.i586.rpm are both
installed and I haven't been able to uninstall either of them. When I use
the command line to uninstall the response is that the package is not
installed, if I use kpackage, the message is '"Glide_V3" specifies multiple
packages'.

I am using Mandrake v7.1 on a K6II-450, 128M RAM, Voodoo3 2000.

How do I uninstall both packages and start over?

Thanks for any assistance,
Donn
