Mandrake 7.1 download, startx fails

As the subject states, I installed via ftp Mandrake 7.1. Because I wanted a
quick and lean install I deselected many package items. I say this because
I don't know if I deselected too much. I tended to avoid deselecting
anything that suggested necessity. Anyhow, here's a quote.

Any suggestions? Please express the answer for a newbie to understand.
