Exceed and linux

Subject: Exceed and linux
This is what I do:

Run Exceed
ssh hostname -l username

My display variable is set for me here at work, so I don't need to worry
about it...but, at home:

netscape -display 192.168.2.2:0 &

netscape shows up and i do whatever i need to

I must not have something set right. All this does is give me a telnet
session
(command line only thing). from the command line if I type startx it gives
me
an Authentication error and I have to ^c back to cli.
