Waste of CPU for a firewall :). Mine has only serial line access. If you
add xauth and the minimal setup for xclients you can shoot GUI windows
back to your desktop, though.

4MB RAM is probably going to be a problem. I think even debian wants 8 MB
at this point. My box is actually using 16MB and it doesn't do much (
unless someone cracked it :).

Neither of those'll drop on a 4MB box without some serious help. Look at
the Linux Router Project, www.LRP.org, if you have the skills and the
patience to get it to work. There are probably a couple of other similar
projects.

You should be able to get debian in on the 4MB, but it really should be a
min of 8 MB.

One way to cheat all of these guys is to install with the disk in a
different 486 making sure to include support for anything you'll need in
the destination box, then move the hd.
