If you have fast and stable internet access you could do it over the
internet through either ftp or http from one of the listed mirror sites for
the distribution that you want.
If you are using Redhat or Mandrake one other thing that you could do is to
format the drive with a dos disk and make it a system drive. Then boot off
of the hard drive and on the cd there is a directory called dosutils that
has a file called autoboot.bat and it will restart the computer and start
the linux install for you. At that point you can go ahead and repartition
the drive using the linux install and deleted the dos partition that you
created.

Subject: laptop install
would like to get linux installed on this old laptop that doen't have a
bootable cd-rom. is it possible to do the install from a zip or something
else? this thing can only run the floppy or cd at one time. ie, have to
swap them on this thing. yes it has a network card. but have never done a
network install either. have tried but no success. still learning here.
anyone available to kill windows on a laptop this weekend?
