firewall in Linux help

I would say this would be a maintenance nightmare.
Three separate machines with firewalls.

I would recommend to get 486 or a Pentium machine
put Linux on it and do firewall/routing on that.

Optionally you could use OpenBSD.
I have seen some nice setups on this type of system.
