Hi,
    Try using control-panel (I don't remember if that dash is supposed
to be there) or printtool in RedHat.  This is a nice little tool that will
configure all of your printers (with your help of course).  You shouldn't
have any problems with and HP4M.  Oh, these programs require X windows.
