Subject: US West VDSL
My brother in northern end of Ahwatukee, north of Elliot,
West of 48th St. has the VDSL service called "Choice" by
US Worst. He started with both Cable TV and Data service,
DSL at 256Kbits. The DSL data service is provided via a
PCI NIC (DEC-21140 type) in the computer, connected by a
RJ45 cable to the BIG (19"x10"x3") US West "service box".
The "box" is connected to the outside telephone entrance
box via RG59 cable, and to the various TV sets also via
RG59. When setup, the DSL operates just like ADSL with the
addition of 100+ cable channels. The phone is not affected
and can operate at the same time as the DSL permanently
connected service.
The DSL service is NOT connected in any way to the TV sets.
