I'd search for any world-writable directories too, just out of
curiousity.  If your ftp daemon doesn't chroot jail the anonymous users,
and you have world-writable areas, that could have posed some of the
problems too.  Of course buffer overflows have already been mentioned :)

Might also type "last" to see info. about last logins, might be damaged
now, if you're "owned", but you never know.  Often some stuff like that
gets overlooked.
