I think I have found a place for a nice location
for the June 24, 2009 meeting.

I just talked to the lady at the Foothills branch library,

and she is e-mailing me the forms,
so we can use the room there;
and -- even though!  they usu. require a 2-week lead time --
she said that "this one time", the short notice would be OK,
since they do have a time slot free for us
(6:30 pm to set up, meeting starts at 7:00, building closes at 9:00).

I told her that I was calling on behalf of the Phoenix Chapter ACM
(which actually is "sorta" true...), and she can (and probably will)
confirm that this .org (see my e-mail address) www.acm.org
(including individual SIGs and local chapters "etc.")
does have a 501(c)3 designation
(from the IRS)
("officially")
(something that PLUG might not have ..."technically")

HOWEVER I did point out to her, that this meeting was for
["the benefit of"] PLUG ("http://plug.phoenix.az.us/node/354"),
and will be focusing on topic[s] of interest to PLUG folks.

But please, (everyone), don't be too freaked out if (in some official
forum)
this meeting might be billed as a meeting of the Phoenix Chapter ACM.

REST ASSURED that,
this meeting WILL (like all of the meetings of the local branch of the
IEEE Computer Society) be free and open to the general public.

((...and that is free as in, "we do not have to pay";
   although maybe it is also "both" kinds of free -- in some sense))

Now you guys (um, persons) can feel free to meet elsewhere, or even
stay home and miss it, but I for one will now feel an obligation to show
up, even if I am the only one there.

The directions to the meeting room we are going to be using
(called the "Hummingbird Room: Accommodates up to 31 persons.")
(it is OK to talk loud!) are as follows:

[1]  after entering the front doors, *before* doing through the
      metal detectors, (or whatever those things are that beep
      if you are exiting with a book and forgot to check it out),
      turn to the left.

[2]  then, on your right will be some rest rooms.  PAST at least
      one of the rest rooms (maybe both) (I am not sure), on your
      right will be the "Hummingbird Room".

[3]   the building has free wifi

[4]   I think there are electric plugs -- but this will be my first time to
       actually use the "Hummingbird Room", so we shall see.

[5]   I am not sure about overhead projector[s] -- (do we need one?)

I hope to see ((some of)) you there.

As far as getting to the building, 57th Ave. is closed North of Union Hills
Dr.,
(for construction), so take 59th Ave. to Utopia
(a half-mile street between Union Hills Drive and [Beardsley =] Loop 101
fwy),
and go West on Utopia 1/4 mile, then South about a 1/2 block to the
first left.
(and park in the first available space that you see).

*PS: * Anyone who attends, is welcome to come to my house for
     some refreshments afterwards.  OR we could go somewhere else.
     (I live about 2 freeway exits away.)
