  Jason,  I'd have to agree with you on this one... I grew up with a
number of Swedish women ... who were raised in one of the most
socialized countries in the world- and their med system was far from
good.  They remarked that the only way to get adequate care was by
paying under the table.

  Its funny you should mention Sicko, because I ordered it a few days
ago on Netflix... and JUST watched it tonight.  A few comments:

  * Moore has to be kidding by selling us on France and Cuba as
socialist paradise.  "Here they send government agents to take care of
your kids!" - has anyone done any critical thinking on this one?  Why
does this lady live in a nice apartment and works some professional
job while the government sends her a nanny?  Anyone remember the
recent problem of rioting in the streets in France?  or the fact that
they're utterly bankrupt?  all the while Moore is chatting with the
affluent American refugees about how they can take as many sick days
as they want... doesn't anyone see how this could be, and probably is,
exploited?  Whats the last product you bought from France?

  * Rich Doctors In Canada!  wrong!  Canadian doctors get in line to
work in America to make real $$$$.

  ultimately though, I think the movie stands as a testament not to
our failure at addressing health care management, but rather at how
UTTERLY POOR AMERICANS HAVE BECOME.  We should be able to afford
health care- and pay either by taxation or out of pocket- either way
costs should scale to income.  Its just another line in the 'rich get
richer, poor get poorer' story...   jmz
