Since you're on an old box, I'd suggest XMMS, which is modeled after winamp.
Tuna suggested amaroK, which is a very good player, and the one that I use
also, but I believe it has higher memory requirements than even Kaffeine
does, so probably wouldn't be what you're looking for.
