I just remembered a drive that Spinrite had a horrible time with.  I dd'd it
to a new drive as someone mentioned and SpinRite was able to fix something
there also.  It was not a total recovery, but it sure made it easier to fix
the Windoes on that drive.

BTW, Spinrite runs on FreeDOS.
