I feel exactly the same way @ the end of the day it's all linux if it 
works in linux it works in a distro
Although they do all have some base differences. Fedora is bugware it's a 
testbed for RedHat where the community bugfixes and the corp end gets the 
results wraps it up w/ icons and sells it. 
The way I best understood this is running yellowdog (PPC) YEARS ago. When 
I fired up apache and it did exactly what you would expect I sat back and 
smiled. Then I did the LFS project from yellowdog and had a 100% custom 
system I had built from source everything since has been simple. 

In my opinion it doesn't matter if you run LFS 
(http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/) or turbolinux 
(http://www.turbolinux.com/) or corel 
(http://www.linuxplanet.com/linuxplanet/reviews/1395/1/) or redhat 5.1 you 
can run whatever on whatever hardware platform/unix you want and run 
opensource apps. it all depends on how lazy you are(nt). hehe It is 
possible to run kernel 2.6 on debian 1.0 or glibc 2.3.5 on slackware 0.99 
its all about how much work you want to put into it. I use rpms in places 
but insist on source in others. I refuse to use the kernel and apache and 
modules from package of any type most of the other stuff (ls and grep I do 
packages).

This isn't the way I hoped the thread would go but oh
well.

As much as we keep talking about the differences, the reality is (for me 
at least) that there really aren't that many big  differences:

Basically you're looking at .deb distros, .rpm distros, or source distros. 
 Beyond that it's all about the distro philosophy, the relative "speed" of 
the project's distribution cycle, community/third party support and what 
it is you're looking for in a distribution. 

Anybody else feel the same? (or differently?)
