We already have this -- Message-ID: and References:.  What Usenet client
are you using that doesn't show threading?  AFAIK, it's much more
popular in Usenet clients than it is in mail clients.  FWIW, I've
noticed that your mail client doesn't create a References: header --
not meant disrespectfully, but maybe it's an AOL thing?  (It's an
optional part of RFC2822, but it's implemented by probably two-thirds of
mail clients.)
