speed up StarOffice

I tested this.
I booted up, started oowriter from the Gnome start menu.
With the splash screen it took 17 seconds.
I disabled the splash screen, rebooted and started oowrite just like before.
Without the splash screen it took 17 seconds.

Not much of an improvement. Does anybody know how to speed this up in Gnome
2?

System specs: RedHat 8.0, Gnome 2, 850Mhz Duron, 256Mb PC-100 mem,
60G UDMA133 drive - 7200 rpm & 8.5ms seek time.

Hi, all-

A tip I saw on another LUG newsgroup-

You can speed up the loading of StarOffice  applications by eliminating
the splashscreen. Locate the file named sofficerc, and open with a text
editor. Then, locate the line

logo=1

Change it to

logo=0

and save.
