Dual Boot troubles

I am trying to setup a dual boot system with 2 versions of linux 1 being Suse which is what I know and understand and the other being EvilEntity which I want to experiment with. I have installed both but I can not configure lilo to read both. I have tried everything I can think off but it didnt work so now I am posting here. Here is what I have  added in  etc/lilo.conf for evil entity which is the distro that is not read by lilo 
image =/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.20
optional  #automatically added by patch_lilo_conf
label = evil
root  =/dev/hda5
vga   =788
read-only
initrd =/boot/initrd-2.4.20

Now this is was  automatically generated by suse but I have made quite a few changes  because they way it was generated by suse did not work. But it doesn't seem to matter what I do when I run /sbin/lilo -v I get the same response which is this

Skipping /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.20
/boot/boot.300 exists - no backup
Writing boot sector.

So I really dont know what I am doing here I am just copying all the posiable combinations I found after much googling and I am at my wits end. I would be happy with an easy answer like do this yada yada yada but I would love an explanation (ya know the whole give a man a fish thing)
