First off, don't rename the device.  It should be eth0 if that is the only NIC 
in the system.  Second, what is that card connected to (cable modem, router, dsl 
modem, etc...).  It's saying failed because it can't get a dynamic IP address 
(dhcp) and so can't bring the interface up fully.
