What sound chip is installed? it's likely a ac'97.
A good cheater I found for installing modules when you're not quite sure wh=
at=20
it is, I boot off knoppix, then look at the modules it loads.
Knoppix is incredible in that respect.

I haven't missed a module yet due to knoppix.
